A Message from the Principal
A very warm welcome to our website at Westbourne Academy.
Our motto is: ‘Aspire Achieve Advance’ and we are determined to work alongside our students, parents/carers, staff, governors and our academy sponsor to ensure that all our young people are given every opportunity to succeed. Our last Ofsted in December 2014, highlights many of the improvements that have already taken place at the academy and confirms that we are: "well placed to continue to improve quickly".
We are an academy that places learning at the centre of all that we do and we were delighted when Ofsted confirmed that the "The quality of teaching is rising".
Through our curriculum, extracurricular opportunities, the pastoral system and the healthy ethos of the school, we aim to ensure our students will be happy and successful.
Our vision is to be a calm academy, where there is a purposeful learning environment. A place where achievement is celebrated and where there are high expectations in terms of behaviour, attendance and uniform. Through reward and celebration, we will nurture the esteem of our young people. Ofsted said that: "The academy is a harmonious community, whose members support each other well. Students generally behave well as they move around the academy, they wear their uniform with pride".
Westbourne is an academy that continually strives to ensure that all students reach their potential and overcomes any barriers that get in the way. We expect all of our staff to be passionate about what they do and to know that each and every one of them can make a difference. We are determined to create a motivated and highly skilled workforce, who are dedicated to making our young people reach their potential.
I look forward to welcoming you to Westbourne Academy. Please watch the video below to get a sense of our ambition. As we continue on our journey to become an outstanding academy, we are actively involving our students, parents/carers, staff, governors and our academy sponsor to ensure that they can be a part of our aspiration to be the best. We will also work closely with our community, sharing our facilities and working with our local partners for the benefit of the community that exists beyond the academy gates.
