Y11 Geography Coastal Field Trip
To Felixstowe on Wed 25 & Thu 26 September 2019
Part of the final exam in Year 11 Geography involves an examination of fieldwork skills and attendance on field trips is compulsory. Our visit to the Olympic Park London in June counted as one of the fieldwork experiences that are required for the Eduqas Geography GCSE course.
The second visit on Wednesday 25 September or Thursday 26 September 2019 will be to the coastal area of Felixstowe. We will be running two trips on two dates in order to accommodate all Y11 Geography classes. The purpose of this coastal visit is to investigate the development of the areas, investigate erosion and geological formations and practise fieldwork skills.
There is a £4 voluntary payment required for this excursion to cover the coach transportation costs.
If we receive insufficient contributions to make these trips financially viable however, they will be cancelled. Payment must be made online through your child’s School Money account no later than Friday 6 September. If you do not have a School Money account, please ask your child to collect a printed consent form with a PayPoint barcode from the Finance Office window before school. You will need to allow 4 working days for PayPoint payments to be received at school.
Parental consent forms will be distributed in tutor time and these must please be returned to the red confidential drop box outside students services by Friday 6 September.
Students will not need to wear academy uniform but they will need suitable clothing and footwear for a day’s fieldwork; preferably something that is waterproof along with a packed lunch and suitable refreshment for the duration.
We will be travelling by coach, departing the academy promptly at 8.30am and we anticipate arriving back at the academy at approximately 3.00pm. You will need to collect your child at this time unless they are able to make their own way home. We will be carrying a first aid kit and at least one member of staff accompanying the visits is a qualified first aider. Any student who would normally receive a free school meal will be provided with a packed lunch on the day provided this is requested in advance. This visit is fully covered by the academy’s insurance policy (ZURICH Insurance).
If you have any questions with regards to the trip, please do not hesitate to contact Mr Cole, Geography Team Leader and Trip Leader.
